Useful Tips
- Be flexible and spontaneous. NYC has so much to offer. It’s easy to be sidetracked by performers in a park, a local diner, shopping, or an off Broadway Show. Trust your instincts and let the city’s spontaneous events take you.
- Hopping into a NYC yellow taxi may make you feel like you’ve just stepped into a movie, but best to avoid the costly cruise. A better bet is to use public transport or walk. Subways offer a great experience with NY life, locals, performers, art work and can be speedier than traffic choked streets. A city bus provides great views of the city and provides the opportunity to mix with NY locals. It’s also a very walkable city, mostly flat and no shortage of sights along the way.
- Broadway bargains can be found at the TKTS booth which sells reduced-price seats to Broadway shows. You can find the TKTS booth at Times Square on Broadway and 47th Street.
- Check your money carefully when spending; it’s all green!
- One of New York City's best museums, the Museum of Modern Art, has free admission on Friday nights, courtesy of Target stores. Admission is free for all visitors every Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
