Greenpoint, Brooklyn Craft Beer Walking Guide

Greenpoint formerly stood as NYC’s epicenter of manufacturing, shipbuilding, and oil refineries. Today, thanks to recent housing development and increased rent prices, it has become a neighborhood ripe with opportunities for businesses to reach new residents. The craft brews enthusiasts have taken note and set up shop so if you’re into beer, this is the neighborhood for you. Hop on the G and follow our walking itinerary that will get you acquainted.

Start at Torst. They have some of the best of the best beers, and most importantly, it’s right off the Nassau G. In addition to their constantly rotating taps, Torst also offers a full food menu and cellar with more than 250 bottles. Pro-tip: Make sure to order some food from their farm-to-table menu so you’re not drinking on an empty stomach. There will be plenty more opportunities to snack along the way, as well.

In contrast to Torst’s bar vibe, Spritzenhaus33 evokes a beer hall atmosphere. Games, TVs and communal tables accompany their wide selection of craft brews. It’s open-air in warmer weather, so it’s a great spot in the spring/summer months.

Stop at Diamond Bar next, not just for their beers, but also for their slot car tournaments and shuffleboard games. The low-key watering hole also serves up a selection of wine and cheeses along with its extensive beer list.

Threes @ Franklin + Kent is a local craft distillery and excellent restaurant for either light bites or a full meal. This satellite location offers up a full liquor bar along with its signature beers. The space is catered by Purslane, shining a spotlight on slow food to focus on ingredient-driven and sustainably-minded dishes.

End your epic day at Brouwerij Lane, a no-frills bar that is sure to please beer lovers. It looks small when you walk inside, but there is also a nice outdoors space in the back that’s a great spot to hang out with friends. Order from their draft list or check out their extensive bottle selection in the fridge area (and you can drink those at the bar or take them home).  The owner has three decades on his belt in the specialty beer industry as an importer and distributor, so you’re sure to have a premium selection.
