#MustDo in NYC: December
New York knows how to do December: we go all out for the holiday season no matter how you choose to celebrate. Whether it’s through food, shows or booze – you can find it here.
For this month’s #MustDo in NYC, a roundup of events to celebrate the season.
Eat Lotsa Latkes
PSA: latke season is upon us! With so many options here in NYC for latkes, it’s hard to make a decision, but don’t fret – the 10th Annual Latke Festival is where you can get your fill. Head to the Brooklyn Museum for a night of New York’s best latkes, celebrity judges and dancing to kick it off in the right way. PLUS, the event benefits The Sylvia Center – a local nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood obesity and food-related diseases. Latkes and a good cause? Count us in!
Monday, December 3 – from 6 pm to 8:30 pm
Christmas Through a Diverse Cultural Lens
The Queens Historical Society hosts their annual Holiday Historic Houses Tour, now dubbed #HollyTour2018, to showcase seven landmarks in one fun-filled day full of family-friendly
activities, performances, displays and refreshments. Visitors can walk or opt to take a dedicated shuttle to different participating venues in the area of Flushing and Corona – notable properties include the Louis Armstrong House Museum, Quaker Meeting House and more! All will be decorated as they were during their first holiday seasons.
Sunday, December 9 – from 1 pm to 5 pm
A Harlemettes Holiday
If you love the Rockettes but find the beats slow, you’re gonna want to take the A train to Harlem. The Harlem School of Arts bring rhythms of jazz, blues, and hip-hop together for an unforgettable holiday show that is anything but the tired norm.

The event is not for everyone but unmissable even if you’re not participating because the entire city becomes flooded with Santas of all types. It’s all for charity, non-political and according to their website, “to spread absurdist joy.”
